Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Ruhengeri

  • Arrival: Upon landing at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your driver-guide.
  • Transfer: Journey to Ruhengeri in Rwanda’s northern province, known for its scenic countryside and lush hills.
  • Accommodation: Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

  • Morning: After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and guidelines.
  • Trekking: Embark on your gorilla trek through the bamboo slopes and hills. The trek can last between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas.
  • Encounter: Spend up to 1 hour with the gorillas, observing and photographing them as they interact naturally.
  • Post-Trek: Return to the starting point for your certificate of participation. If time permits, you can enjoy a village walk around Kinigi.
  • Accommodation: Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura.

Day 3: Transfer to Kisoro – Uganda (Southern Bwindi)

  • Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • Journey to Uganda: Travel to Uganda, stopping to visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Cross the Cyanika border into Uganda and proceed to Kisoro.
  • Sightseeing: Explore Lake Mutanda and the scenic Sagitwe Hill, offering panoramic views of Kisoro town, Lake Mutanda, the Virunga Mountains, and distant Bunagana in Congo.
  • Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at Bwindi Jungle View Lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi

  • Morning: After breakfast, head to the Bwindi park headquarters for a briefing.
  • Trekking: Set out to track the gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trek can take between 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas.
  • Encounter: Spend up to 1 hour observing and photographing the gorillas.
  • Post-Trek: Return to your lodge to relax and have another night at Bwindi Jungle View Lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali and Departure

  • Breakfast: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
  • Transfer to Kigali: Travel back to Kigali through the Katuna border, enjoying views of Echuya Forest Reserve and Lake Bunyonyi along the way.
  • Kigali City Tour: Visit Kimironko Market and the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
  • Lunch: Dine at Hotel Mille Collines, famous for its role in the film “Hotel Rwanda.”
  • Departure: Drop-off at Kigali International Airport for your flight home.
